Three In-State Prospects to Play for Montana State Volleyball Squad

Taylor Faught, a 5-8 setter from Billings; Hannah Stroebe, a 5-6 defensive specialist/libero from Billings; and Haley Connolly, a 5-10 outside hitter from Ennis, will compete for the Bobcat this fall.
Faught, a graduate of Billings West, is transferring from MSU Billings, where she played two seasons. Faught sat out last fall due to injury.
In 2006, she played in all 31 matches for the Yellowjackets and ranked fourth on the squad with 308 digs. Faught dished out a career-high 22 assists against Oklahoma Panhandle. She also added a career-high 27 digs and helped MSU Billings to a first ever Heartland Conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
“Taylor will bring experience and a strong work ethic to our program,” Schaub said. “Working with her over the past year, I know she works extremely hard to make her hitters successful. Taylor will be in Bozeman this summer and that will help her get acclimated to Montana State before the season starts.”
As a prepster, she lettered three seasons and helped West High to a 26-2 overall record and a Class AA state title as a senior. Faught earned first-team all-state honors as a junior and senior.
She is the daughter of Lon Faught and Allyn Calton.
Stroebe will walk-on in a defensive role for the Bobcats. She has been part of the Billings Senior dynasty that has produced three straight Class AA titles. During that time, the Broncs posted a 93-2 record, including a 31-0 mark, last fall.
“We are very excited to get an athlete like Hannah Stroebe to join our 2008 squad,” Schaub said. “She comes from a great high school program and knows what it takes to win. Her speed and quickness will definitely be an asset to our defense.”
An outstanding student, Stroebe was a three-time all-state academic selection. She is the daughter of Conrad and Teresa Stroebe.
Connolly, who is the sister of former Bobcat basketball player Whitney Connolly, joins the Bobcat roster after a three-year career at The Principia School in St. Louis, Missouri.
Playing in the Missouri Women’s Athletic Association, Connolly was a two-time first-team all-star selection and a two-time all-district choice, as well. Connolly helped the Panthers to a MWAA tournament appearance, where she garnered first-team honors.
“Haley was a unique addition to the program,” Schaub said. “I watched her recruiting video and liked her athletic ability. It wasn’t until later that I found she had connections to Montana State.”
She is the daughter of Sam and Jill Connolly.
“I am excited to be adding Montana players to the roster,” Schaub said. “These players come into our program already understanding how big of an honor it is to be a Bobcat. The two players from Billings are from two of the best high school programs in the state. I feel that Beth Tocci and Jeff Carroll do a great job training their athletes and preparing them for the next level.”
