Smith Shoots Season Best to Tie for Tenth at Cowgirl Classic

Smith had rounds of 77 and 76 to finish nine over par for the first 36 holes. Despite losing senior Kate Steffanich to the flu the day before, the remaining four ‘Cats managed to hang on for 13th place after the first day.
“There’s a lot of pressure on those four golfers now that Kate is out,” head coach Leslie Spalding said. “I was very happy to see that they stepped up and played a lot more like they can play. They’re playing with some confidence.”
Senior Stephanie Simmons cut 11 strokes off her first round score to shoot a 79 on her second 18 holes. The event concludes Tuesday with another 18 holes.
