Bobcats Sneak in Sunday Practice

On Sunday, the first day Montana State's football team was allowed to tackle per NCAA regulations, the Bobcats tackled. And Rob Ash smiled.
"I think we learned a lot today, and we showed progress," said Ash, presiding over his first spring session as Montana State's head coach after arriving in Bozeman last June. "We worked hard on tackling in individual periods. We're trying to become a better tackling football team. This is one of the days that we can use a portion of the periods on tackling, and we got a lot of work done."
Ash said that while the offense struggled on Sunday, he was pleased with that unit's tempo. "The (playing) surface was pretty suspect, and we didn't make a lot of progress in the timing of our passing game, but we converted some third down passes, and that was good to see. Our offensive tempo was better (on Sunday) than last time."
Ash indicated MSU would practice every available day this week in terms to get caught up on its practice schedule. "We're in pretty good shape, really," he said. "We're one down, so we'll need to make that up. All in all, we're in decent shape right now."
