Bobcats Fare Well at Missoula

Karen Helvey led a strong MSU contingent at the Montana Invitational in Missoula Saturday. Helvey logged a personal best discus throw of 149-9 to take the Big Sky lead in the discus throw, and also nailed a season's best 177-7 in the hammer. Her hammer throw was an inch away from qualifying for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.
In the men's competition, Scott Peterson (400 hurdles) and Devin McDowell (5,000 m) each became first-time Big Sky Conference qualifiers.
At the Drake Relays, Allison Jones finished 15th in the hammer throw (166-3).
