Montana State Women Open Big Sky Tennis Tourney with Sweep over Northern Colorado

“We were pretty nervous, but they did what they always do, and that’s to fight and battle,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “We got the doubles point under our belt, and then settled back and played with confidence.”
Montana State (12-5) received doubles victories at Nos. 1 and 2, sparked by Allison Fey and Katy Proietti’s 8-4 win at the top spot.
Sophomore Ali Griffin posted MSU’s first win in singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Northern Colorado’s Karen Goll at the No. 4 position. Freshman Stephanie Jasper followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 spot, before senior Remy Clark secured the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
“Northern Colorado was scrappy and it was a fight,” Albrecht said. “I’m glad we got the match. We’ll be much more comfortable against Northern Arizona.”
The Bobcats will face No. 2 Northern Arizona in the semifinals, Saturday at 11 a.m. (MST).
