MSU Signs Two Top Golf Recruits

McGetrick comes to MSU with a golf pedigree. Her father, Mike McGetrick, is a teaching professional and her mother was a collegiate golfer at Furman University. She placed sixth in the 5A Colorado High School Golf Championships in 2007, and was chosen Most Valuable Golfer at Arapahoe High School her freshman through junior years. McGetrick has a 6.0 handicap and competed in the American Juniors Golf Association circuit and PGA Junior Callaway Series last summer.
“Leslie is someone that can come in for us and play right now and make an impact,” Spalding said.
Hanna Barney lists a 4.5 handicap and currently plays for Park County High School. She also competes in tennis and was the number two singles player on the 2007 state championship team in Montana Class A. In her 2007 season as a junior, Barney won every high school regular season event except one and placed second in the Montana Class A Golf Championships. She was a Montana sectional junior qualifier in the summer of 2007 and placed seventh overall at the 2007 Montana State Women’s Amateur in Bozeman.
“I’m really looking forward to getting Hannah on the team. It’s great to be able to have a golfer her caliber in Montana,” Spalding said. “She really liked Montana State as a school and is looking forward to her experience here.”
