Bobcats Look Ahead to Mid-Week Practices

Rob Ash has coached football long enough to know one thing about the passing game - completing passes is a good place to start. After reviewing Montana State's first scrimmage of the spring, which took place on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Bobcat Stadium, Ash was pleased with his offensive unit's ability to move the ball.
"The statistical line for our top three quarterbacks was pretty good," Ash said of his team's three-man quarterback competition between sophomores Jordan Rasmussen and Mark Desin, who played receiver last fall, and junior college transfer Mark Iddins. "We'll focus more on attacking down the field as the spring progresses, but we showed good efficiency Sunday."
The three varsity quarterbacks combined to complete 26 of 39 pass attempts, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Redshirt freshman quarterback Willie Sullivan's interception marked the day's only turnover.
Consistency, decision-making and execution stand as the points of emphasis as the team passes the mid-point of its spring practice session. Ash said his squad hopes to practice Tuesday and Wednesday, with a scrimmage slated for the weekend.
"We'll see where we are and how many practices we'll able to get in" during the week, Ash said. "We hope to scrimmage Saturday, but we'll make that decision later in the week."
