Montana State Names Kiracofe Assistant Volleyball Coach

“We’re very excited to have Sean join the Bobcat program,” Schaub said. “He brings a wealth of experience in recruiting different areas. Sean will also coach our middle blockers. I’ve known him for several years and he’ll be a great fit with the personalities of the players already in the program.
“With the addition of Sean, our staff is complete,” Schaub added. “Along with Steve Huntingdale, we can now concentrate on the fall season.”
Kiracofe joined the SMU program in 2003 and promptly helped guide the Mustangs to one of the best seasons in the program’s history, going 22-6 overall and 11-2 in conference action.
During his tenure in Dallas, Kiracofe helped SMU average 16.4 victories per season.
At SMU, he assisted with all phases of the program, and focused mainly on training middle blockers, travel, recruiting, and practice preparation.
Prior to his stint with the Mustangs, Kiracofe served as an assistant coach at the University of Texas El Paso for one season. He also coached a three-year term with the Austin Metro Volleyball Club.
A native of Austin, Texas, Kiracofe was a four-year starter for Texas Tech. He captained the team in both 1998 and 1999 from his middle blocking position and led the Red Raiders to a Top 25 club ranking his junior and senior campaigns.
Kiracofe began playing competitive volleyball at an early age with the Austin Juniors. He competed for five straight years at the Junior Olympics from 1990-94. In 1994, Kiracofe became the first male Texan named to Volleyball Monthly’s Fab 50, a list honoring the top 50 players in the nation.
A 1999 graduate of Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, Kiracofe is married to the former Kerri Karaszewski.
Kiracofe has already started his duties at Montana State.
