LaMar Places 17th in Slalom on Final Day of NCAA Championships

The Aspen, Colo., native rattled of a strong second-run, after finishing 21st overall in the opening run. LaMar finished with a two-run total of 1:47.07.
“Heading into the championships, I think Toby and I had higher expectations, but we are certainly happy with his performance,” said MSU head coach Dan Brelsford. “It’s a neat thing to race on your home course, and to say you are one of the top 20 collegiate slalom racers is the nation.”
John Buchar of Denver won his second title of the championships with a 1:42.10 clocking the slalom.
Chichi Williams, Montana State’s lone female alpine racer, finished 30th in the slalom event. The native of Stratton, Vermont clocked a two-run total of 1:41.14.
CU’s Lucie Zikova won her second title of the week, posting a two-run time f 1:27.9.
Behind the strong performance of its men’s alpine team, Denver won the 2008 NCAA Skiing Championship. DU went 1, 2 and 8 in the slalom event.
The Pioneers finished with 649.5 points, and were followed in the top five by Colorado 619, Utah 550, Dartmouth 546 and Middlebury 529.
Montana State finished 16th overall with 145 points.
This year’s NCAA Skiing Championship was the sixth hosted by Montana State.
