Glue Guy. It's a label in college basketball that may not mean a lot to distant observers, but to coaches it's a high complement.
A Glue Guy is a player who does the little things on the floor while working hard and being a good teammate. No job is too small, and the chores assigned are always carried out with a good attitude. In his two years at MSU, Adrian Zamora was a Glue Guy.
Certainly, Zamora had some fine moments, finishing seventh in the Big Sky in blocked shots and 16th in rebounding. He scored 16 points against Alcorn State this year, and grabbed 11 boards against Long Beach State.
Talk to people in the Bobcat program, though, and they mention something a little different. They talk about how Zamora's steady personality and willingness to work always set the tone in practice and games.
Here's a look at the numbers...
MSU career blocked shots: 8th, 61
From MSU Coach Brad Huse: "Adrian always brought a good attitiude to practice, and his presence on the defensive end was really important. He was a good shot blocker, but his contributions didn't always show up on the stat sheet. He was a great guy to have in our program."
