Golfers Tee Off in Hawaii Invite Today

The three-day event runs March 17-19 and includes 54 holes. MSU golfers making the trip include LaRae Smith (1), Shannon Donegan (2), Kate Steffanich (3), Stephanie Simmons (4), Hillary Folkvord (5).
Defending medalist, Kim Welch of Washington State, shot a three round 219, but will not compete this year. Lat year’s defending team champion, New Mexico, will not be at this year’s event. Teams will include British Columbia, BYU- Hawaii, Hawaii, UH-Hilo, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Colorado, Osaka University,
San Diego State, San Francisco, Washington State, UTEP, Arizona, and Arizona State.
Head Bobcat coach Leslie Spalding is looking forward to the chance to play.
“We’ve been off for a couple weeks now and it will be nice to get back on some grass in nice weather. I think our girls are ready to have some good rounds of golf. I’m excited to see what they can do,” Spalding said.
