Mercer and Heringer Gain All-League Recognition

Mercer, a native of Perth, Australia, averaged 21.4 points per game in Big Sky play, which ranked second in the league. Her 3.36 three-point makes led the Big Sky. In addition, Mercer was ranked among the top 12 in free throw percentage and 3-point field goal percentage. On a national level, Mercer’s 2.8 three-point field goals made per game ranks tenth in the country.
“We’re excited about the recognition for Rebecca and Jenny,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “They have been our most consistent players on a very balanced team. We have a lot of different players that are deserving of postseason honors.”
Heringer, who bounced back after sitting out the 2006-07 campaign following leg surgery, and then battled back from injuries sustained in an off-season ATV accident, averaged 12.3 points per game in Big Sky play. The native of Billings, Mont., also chipped in 6.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 89 percent from the free throw line.
Idaho State’s Natalie Doma earned Big Sky Conference Player of the Year kudos. And, despite producing one of the best seasons in Montana State history, Mercer was not one of three players to receive unanimous selection to the first-team. That honor was bestowed upon Doma, Mandy Morales of Montana, and Claire Faucher of Portland State.
