The class will include local long sprinter Bryce Shows of Ennis High School, who was heavily recruited by the University of Montana’s football program and standout distance runner Patrick Casey from Laurel.
“I’m excited about these recruits. Many of them will make an immediate impact on our programs here, and they are a great nucleus for our future as well,” Kennedy said.
Men’s Track and Field signees:
Bryce Shows, Ennis, MT. Long sprinter. 3.96 GPA
Shows comes to MSU’s track program with a three-sport background. In addition to track, Shows played football and basketball four years at Ennis. He won the prestigious USTAF Edwin Moses Award in 2005 and was Most Valuable Performer on the track squad in 2007. He was an integral part of the two state track class B championships for Ennis in 2006-07, placing third in the 400 in ’06 and winning both the 400 and 800 in 2007. Best times: 22.8 (200), 49.5 (400), 1:56.6 (800).
“We’re excited to get an athlete the caliber of Bryce. He’s got the potential to be an impact guy at both the 400 and 800,” coach Kennedy said.
Patrick Casey, Laurel, MT; distance runner
Casey is the 2007 Class A Montana cross country champion. In addition, he placed 14th in the prestigious Foot Locker West Regional and went on to capture the USTAF National Junior Olympic Championship in fall 2007 after his senior cross country season. Casey is the reigning 1600 and 3200 state champion in track as well. He placed in the top five in state cross country the last three seasons. Best times: 4:22.25 (1600), 9:36.50 (3200)
“Casey is a huge recruit for Montana State. He will make an immediate impact on our cross county and track teams and will become part of a catalyst that will take us to the next level,” Kennedy said.
Forest Jarvi; Salem, OR (Sprague High School); middle distance, 4.0 GPA,
Jarvi brings an ethic of excellence to his accomplishments, ranking first academically in his class of 400-plus. He will be expected to do double duty at MSU running both cross country and track. He was captain and MVP of his cross country team in 2007 and was district champion in both the 800 and 1500 in outdoor track. Jarvi brings some history to Bozeman as his father was the trainer for the MSU 1983 women’s track and field conference champions. His grandfather, Irving Dayton, was a vice president and physics professor at MSU. Best times: 1:56.32 (800), 4:06.6 (1500)

Christina Alexander, Olympia, WA (Tumwater High School); middle distance; exercise science major
Alexander will pull double duty in cross country and track at MSU. She placed 14th in 2006 and 12th at the 2007 Washington state cross country championship. Rebecca Sorenson; Cloquet, MN; distance runner, 3.90 GPA
Sorenson comes to MSU with multiple accolades in cross country and track.
