Rudy and Johnson Get Second Consecutive Conference Honor

This week, the pair received their second consecutive Big Sky Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week honor, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Rudy, a native of Woodland, Colorado was honored as the Female Field Athlete of the Week for her pole vault performance at last week’s MSU Dual Invite. She won the event with a vault of 13’7.25”. Rudy has already qualified to defend her NCAA indoor pole vault title and will continue her trek this weekend at the Mountain States Invite in Pocatello. Currently, Rudy is tied for second in the NCAA rankings of women’s pole vault. The award gives Rudy the most Athlete of the Week honors (17) of one student-athlete in Big Sky history.
Johnson, who received the Male Track Athlete of the Week honor, broke the MSU school 400 record at last week’s Dual Invite for the second consecutive week. His time of 47.04 was a provisional mark for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, and ranks him 14th in the nation in the event. The Livingston native will compete in Pocatello this weekend as well.
