Bobcat Men's Tennis Team Knocks Off #75 UC Davis.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Montana State defeated #75 UC Davis in a hard-fought 4-3 decision, Sunday in men's tennis action at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center in Portland, Ore. MSU took two of three matches in doubles before holding on for three more points in singles.
The Bobcats improved to 2-3. UC Davis, which is ranked No. 75 in the latest ITA poll, drops to 4-2 overall.
In doubles, the first match to finish was at No. 3 where Justin Hauck and Pawel Turzanski defeated the Aggies' Hunter Lee and Tyler Lee, 8-4. The Bobcats clinched the match's first point when Jakub Dybala and Kyle McDonald posted an 8-4 victory at No. 1 over Daniel Elefant and Michael Reiser. The final doubles match went to the Aggies as Henri Landes and Justin Garcia defeated Fletcher Keyes and David Kovas, 8-6.
In singles, MSU took a 2-0 lead when Turzanski defeated Nick Lopez, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3. The advantage went to 3-0 after McDonald posted a straight sets victory over Reiser at No. 1.
That's when the momentum began to shift to UC Davis. The next match to finish was at No. 2 as Landes continued his hot hand with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Dybala to make it 3-1. Landes won the tiebreaker, 7-0, to put the Aggies on the board.
At No. 4, Garcia defeated Keyes, 6-4, 6-3, to get UC Davis within 3-2. The match was tied at 3-3 when Tyler Lee finished off Kovas at No. 6 by a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
The match came down to No. 5 singles, where Hauck rallied from a first set (6-2) deficit to post a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win to give MSU its first win over a ranked opponent in almost 2 ½ years.
Montana State will face Eastern Washington and Lewis-Clark State on Feb. 22.
