Johnson Cracks Top Ten Nationally With 400 Win

At Friday night’s Fleet Feet Dual Invite at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Johnson won the men’s 400 with a scorching time of 46.91, good enough to rank him tenth in the nation in NCAA Divison I in the event.
“You can never win too much,” Johnson said. “After freshman and sophomore seasons of never winning anything, this feels pretty good.”
The time marked the fourth time in as many outings that Johnson broke his own school record in the 400. Johnson also notched victories in the 55 (6.44) and the 200 (21.50) giving him another sweep in the sprints.
Six more MSU women qualified for the Big Sky conference Championships on Friday: Autumn Domitrovich (200), Elisabeth Driscoll (3000), Kayla Larson (3000), Lise Kilgore (weight throw), Jessie Greany (high jump), and Toni Qunell (55). Driscoll won the 3000 with a time of 10:15.18. Freshman Greany (Belgrade) won the high jump at 5’04.25”. Also coming away with wins at the event were Kris Shaffer in the shot put (45’07.25”), sophomore Alli Jones in the weight throw, beating her previous personal best by five feet (57’04.25”), and junior pole vault stalwart Ellie Rudy (13-09.25”).
Nick Atwood qualified for the BSC Championships in the mile run while weight thrower Nate Palmer took second in the event with a toss of 57’05.75”.
In the scored team dual events, Montana State beat out rival Montana on the men’s side 76-73, but lost to Weber State, 69-73. On the women’s side, MSU lost to Montana, 73-76 and beat Weber State, 77-61.
