MSU Track and Field Signs Another Top Prep Recruit

Phillips, who was recruited heavily by the University of Montana for football, is one of seven prep athletes to sign with MSU track and field so far.
“David’s signing with us over football shows us this kid has a real passion for throwing the discus,” Kennedy said. “He is going to be a big asset for us.”
Phillips has a personal best in the discus of 175’ 9”, and has thrown beyond 170 feet in four competitions. He placed fifth at the State Class B Meet in 2007, and was All-State in football two years at Deer Lodge. He maintains a 4.0 grade point average, and is president of the student body.
