Montana State makes its earliest Big Sky Conference start in school history this weekend, traveling to Cheney for a rare December conference game against Eastern Washington. The vastly improved Eagles enter this strange little interlude with five wins, tied for the most in the Big Sky, while the Bobcats join Eastern as two of only three Big Sky schools to enter weekend play with winning records. The Eagles are led by new transfer Benny Valentine, a guard who leads the Big Sky with 19.6 points a game while leading EWU with 19 assists. Brandon Moore chips in 11.3 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds a game, while the Eagles also benefit from a strong supporting cast. Bobby Howard leads the Cats with 15.2 points a game.
