Boise State Holds on For Hard-Fought Victory over Bobcats

Boise State (4-4) jumped out to an early 17-4 lead as Montana State (3-3) posted eight miscues in the first seven minutes of the game. The Bobcats answered with a 24-11 run to even the score at 28-all following a Lyndi Seidensticker jumper.
The Broncos held a 37-31 advantage at intermission.
“We didn’t take care of the ball,” said MSU fourth-year head coach Tricia Binford. “We had some upperclassmen that didn’t get the job done, and that’s uncharacteristic of this team. It’s something we will address and look to clean-up by Sunday afternoon.”
Montana State took its first lead of the game at the 13:05 mark of the second stanza on a pair of Erica Perry free throws. The Bobcats built their largest margin at 57-52 with 6:42 left on a Jenny Heringer field goal.
The lead changed hands twice down the stretch, and the Bobcats held a 62-59 cushion with 2:18 remaining, following three consecutive Heringer free throws.
Boise State outscored Montana State 11-3 in the final two minutes, which included a five-of-six effort from the line.
“Obviously, it was a disappointing effort,” Binford said. “Boise’s pressure created some mistakes, but most of our turnovers were unforced.
“We also lacked intensity, and that’s something we need to find,” Binford said. “Last year we had Krislyn Wallace give us that spark. We need someone to step-up and provide that type of defensive leadership this season.”
Perry, a junior from Lynwood, Calif., paced MSU with a team-high 16 points, while Heringer also posted double-digits with 12 points.
Junior Nubia Garcia led all players with a game-high 13 rebounds. BSU held a slim 44-42 advantage in rebounding.
For the game, Montana State shot 37 percent from the field and 85 percent from the line.
Boise State was led in the win by Janie Bos with 14 points and ten rebounds.
Montana State will host Great Falls on Sunday at 2 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
