Montana State Women Host Boise State on Friday in Worthington Arena

“We’re excited to be at home and to have two tough games for our fans to enjoy,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford.
Binford will face her alma mater on Friday night. As Tricia Bader, she played for BSU from 1991-96, where she was a three-time All-Big Sky Conference performer. In addition, Binford served as an assistant coach for the Broncos from 1999-01.
Current Boise State assistant Heather Sower was a teammate of Binford. The duo helped the squad to BSU’s first NCAA appearance in 1994.
After defeating Western Carolina 90-82 last Saturday, MSU improved to 3-2 overall. Boise State downed Southern Utah 74-60 on Monday to push its season mark to 3-4 overall.
The Bobcats and Broncos have two common opponents to date as MSU defeated Utah Valley and lost to Washington State, while Boise State dropped both its meetings with UVU and WSU.
A former member of the Big Sky Conference, the two schools have met on 47 occasions with Montana State holding a slim 24-23 advantage in the all-time series. BSU won the last meeting between the two institutions in a 66-52 decision on Nov. 25, 2005 in Bozeman.
Montana State will bring a balanced attack to the court on Friday, as four Bobcats are currently averaging double-digits. MSU is being led by freshman Katie Bussey, who is averaging 11.8 points per contest. She is followed by Jenny Heringer 11.2, Sarah Strand 11.2, and Nubia Garcia 10.8. Garcia leads the team under the boards, averaging 7.8 rebounds per game.
“Boise State is a lot like us,” Binford said. “They have a very productive bench. In addition, they are very well coached and it should be a fun game.”
Boise State has been led on the season by Marisa Stotler, who has come off the bench to average 9.9 points per game. In its win over Southern Utah, the Broncos were led by Heather Pilcher, a 5-foot-8 freshman, who poured in 19 points, including a four-of-six performance from three-point range.
Boise State will play at Montana on Sunday.

In their 70-68 loss to Lethbridge on Nov. 29, UGF was paced by former Bozeman High School standout Leslie Saunders, who tallied a team-high 14 points. Another former Hawk, Carrie Feenstra, is a freshman on the squad, as well.
Both MSU games can be heard on KZMY 103.5 with Tyler Wiltgen handling play-by-play duties. Wiltgen will begin his pregame 15-minutes prior to tipoff.
