Verlanic Earns Another Academic Honor

Montana State senior Jim Verlanic earned Academic All-Star honors from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association Friday, the FCS ADA announced.
In addition, Verlanic became one of six finalists for a $5,000 post-graduate scholarship from the organization. The FCS ADA rewards two scholar-athletes with grants each year.
Montana State's starting center as a senior in 2008, Verlanic was also a team captain. He is scheduled to graduate with a double major of Bio-Medical Science and Ecology and Evolution, and plans to attend medical school. He earned Academic All-Star honors from the FCS ADA last year, and is a two-time ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-America Region 7 selection, as well.
Verlanic, from Anaconda, followed the footsteps of his father, Ken, who also played as a starting lineman for the Bobcats.
