Student-Athletes Donate to Toys for Tots

The project was spearheaded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) which consists of at least one student from each sport. SAAC has a number of projects throughout the school year that get athletes involved in community projects. This is the seventh year MSU student-athletes have raised money for Toys for Tots.
“This is one project that truly reflects their giving spirit,” John Taylor said. Taylor is the CHAMPS/Life Skills coordinator for MSU Athletics and is a former MSU football player. “This is a particularly hard time of the year for them to give cash because they’re all saving to go home, but it’s amazing to see them step up and give.”
SAAC raised over $800 and purchased 94 toys for the local organization that is part of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. The toys are distributed locally to families who have signed up for the program. Over the 59 years of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 370 million toys to more than 173 million needy children.
