Bobcats Fall to Cougars in Seattle

Washington State shot 58% from the floor in each half and held Montana State to just 33% shooting, as the Cougars raced past MSU 70-51 in Seattle on Saturday.
The Cougars jumped out to a 30-18 halftime lead over MSU, limiting the Bobcats to just 25% shooting before the intermission. Four Washington State players scored in double-digits, with MSU's Danny Piepoli and WSU's Klay Thompson sharing game-high honors with 14 points. WSU out-rebounded the Bobcats 36-to-20.
After Erik Rush opened the game by connecting on one of two free throws for the Bobcats, Daven Harmeling nailed back-to-back three-pointers to stake Washington State to a 6-1 lead. The Cougars would never look back. Divaldo Mbunga's jumper at 14:33 of the first half brought the Bobcats to within three at 14-11, but Washington State's 10-2 run gave the Cougars command. MSU got to within single digits once just before halftime, and never came closer than 10 in the second half.
Rush finished with 12 points for MSU, 10 from the charity stripe, the only Bobcat other than Piepoli to finish with more than 10 points. Marquis Navarre had five rebounds and three assists without a turnover for MSU.
The Bobcats return home for finals week, which begins Monday, before playing at Long Beach State on Saturday and Cal State Fullerton next Monday.
