Bobcat Hoopsters Fall to Women of Troy

Montana State (4-5) opened up a seven point advantage in the first half, but USC (5-3) answered back to take a 39-33 lead at intermission.
In the second stanza, the Women of Troy built their margin shooting 49 percent from the field while holding the Bobcats to 32 percent. USC also held a commanding 51-32 advantage in rebounding.
“We got into early foul trouble and USC went to the line, which forced us into a half court game,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We’re an up-tempo team and that took us away from one of our strengths.
“In the second half, I thought we ran out of gas and we didn’t get the job done under the boards,” Binford added.
MSU was led in the loss by Erica Perry with 11 points, four assists and four steals. Also reaching double-figures was Jenny Heringer with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
The Bobcats, who entered the game as one of the nation’s top free throw shooting teams, connected on just 10-of-20 from the line, while USC converted 23-of-37 from the stripe. In all, three Bobcat players fouled-out.
The Women of Troy had five players in double-figures, paced by Hailey Dunham with 13 points, seven of which came from the free throw line.
Montana State will host Idaho, Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
