Boise State Races Past Bobcats in Second Half

Boise State used a hot-shooting second half to race past Montana State 74-61 in Boise on Monday.
The Broncos exploded from a 32-32 halftime tie to shoot 73% in the second half, limiting MSU to 33% shooting and outscoring the Bobcats 42-29 in the second stanza. The Broncos’ efficient second half led to a 54% field goal effort for the game, and BSU scored 38 of its 74 points inside the Taco Bell Arena paint.
“They got high-percentage shots in the second half, while we were battling our tails off to get looks at the basket,” MSU coach Brad Huse said. “We did a good job in the first half hanging in there with them, but it took its toll. We had a hard time getting the ball where we wanted to get it, credit to them for defending well.” MSU finished the night shooting 39%, but shot 33% in the second half after shooting 45% in the first.
BSU’s Paul Noonan led all players with 24 points on the night. Marquis Navarre scored 14 points to lead the Bobcats, while Bobby Howard added 10 and Divaldo Mbunga scored nine points with seven rebounds.
“We have to bounce back,” Huse said of his team’s trip to Corvallis, Ore., for a contest against Oregon State. “This feels like a conference road trip, and we’ll learn from this situation.”
