Spalding Announces Two Top Prep Signees

Montana State golf garnered two top golf recruits on the first day of the signing period for 2009, head coach Leslie Spalding announced today. Molly Dorans of Erie, Colorado and Melissa Hultstrand of Gilbert, Arizona both signed letters of intent to attend Montana State University next year to play golf.
“I am excited about what these two will bring to our program,” Spalding said. “Their competitive experience is something that will help them make an impact on our program.”
Dorans is currently a senior honor student at Broomfield High School, ranking academically in the top ten of her class, and has a golf handicap of two. She placed fourth in the Colorado state high school golf tourney her sophomore year and first in the Northern Region her junior year. Chosen as the Boulder Daily Camera 2008 Player of the Year, she has been an all-conference selection every year since 2006. Dorans was also the 2008 Northern Conference MVP.
Hultstrand lettered four years on the Mesquite High School golf team in Gilbert and finished third in the standings for 2008 Junior Golf Association of Arizona Golfer of the Year in the 15-18 championship category. She also played in the PGA Callaway Junior Series this summer in Pennsylvania and New Mexico, and was chosen for the Arizona America's Cup team which competed in Canada this summer. She had a successful senior high school season finishing first over at the 5A1 Regionals and 12th at the state championships, leading her high school team to sixth place.
