THE STORYLINE
Montana State ended its two-game losing streak Saturday, earning a 31-20 win at Sacramento State. The Bobcats stand 2-0 in league road games this year, but return home to face Northern Colorado looking to snap a two-game home losing streak. MSU blocked a punt for a touchdown, the third time in four league games the Bobcats have scored on an opponent punt.

The first was after their first drive or two when we got adjusted to their run-game concepts, I thought we did a really good job shutting them down the rest of the half. The other part of the game that was really impressive defensively was after we threw the interception and they scored a touchdown the next three series for Sacramento State were all three-and-out. Our defense did a great job at that stage of the game shutting them down. Offensively, I liked a lot of the things we did. We were a little more explosive, had a couple more big plays. We just look for a little more consistency in the passing game.”

We’re trying to evolve into an offense that has some bigger play capacity, taking our shots downfield and trying to soften the defense up. I’d like to be able to run the ball consistently throughout the game, but especially late in the game with a lead. We have to continue working on that, as well.”

They’re gaining confidence, and they’re much improved at quarterback with (Bryan) Waggener coming in from Florida, he’s done a good job.
