Energy and effort.
On the list of positives third-year Montana State men's basketball coach Brad Huse saw during his team's first practice session of the season, those two factors were at the top.
"The guys were eager," Huse said following the team's two-hour practice session on Friday evening. "They worked hard, showed good energy, and were interested in learning. They competed hard."
With six newcomers and two more players who redshirted last season comprising the Bobcats' 13-man roster, Huse indicated his staff would spend considerable time early in fall camp establishing the program's norms. "Right now we're trying to shape what expectations are in terms of execution," he said. "What you expect from the first couple of days is concentration and good effort."
Huse said the Bobcats will continue down that path with a pair of practices on Saturday and another Sunday. "We'll just try to build off this with a lot of repetition," he said. "We'll develop and emphasize the things that are important to us on both ends of the court."
