The ‘Cats take their first and longest conference road trip this week to the west coast for contests against Sac State and NAU. Sac State is winless in the Big Sky and owns a 2-11 record overall. NAU sits 2-1 in the conference. Last season, the ‘Cats split with the Hornets and dropped both conference games to NAU. Both teams are coming off conference losses.
Last Week:
Jan. 5: beat Montana, 74-58 at Bozeman
Senior guard Carlos Taylor scored a career-high 34 points, including 21 in the second half, to lead Montana State to a 74-58 win over Montana in both teams' league-opener. MSU broke a five-game losing streak to the Griz with the decisive win on Saturday.

MSU women host their first home conference games this week at Worthington Arena. Both Sac and NAU are currently 1-1 in the conference, having beat Eastern Washington and lost to Portland State. Sac is led by Atty Boyer who averages 12.5 ppg and NAU is led by Laura Dinkins who is averaging 15 ppg.

Jan. 4: lost at Montana, 65-78
Montana State lost a hard fought game at Dahlberg Arena to intrastate rival Montana, 78-65. The Bobcats were led in scoring by Rebecca Mercer with 19 points, while Krislyn Wallace and Nubia Garcia added 13 and ten points, respectively. Wallace finished with a double-double posting a game-high ten rebounds.

Last Week:
The Montana State ski team sits in seventh place after the opening day of the season at the University of Colorado Invitational. Denver opened the giant slalom event with 152 points, followed by Colorado 132, New Mexico 128, Utah 128, Nevada 106, Alaska-Anchorage 104, MSU 80, Western State 57, Whitman 22, and Wyoming 0. The Bobcats women had a solid outing as two freshmen and a sophomore paced MSU. Victoria Christensen was Montana State’s top finisher, placing 10th overall with a clocking of 1:57.74.
The Nordic portion of the CU Invite will take place Jan. 19-20.
