Bobcats in Seventh Following Unfavorable Conditions at CU Invite

Skiing under the lights, Montana State sophomore Toby LaMar posted a 10th place finish with a clocking of 1:15.82 to pace the Bobcats, who sit in seventh after the alpine events.
The Nordic races will be held Jan. 19-20 in Winter Park, Colorado.
Colorado leads it own invitational with 278 points, followed by Denver 259, New Mexico 252, Utah 242, Nevada 235, Alaska-Anchorage 205, MSU 166, Western State 129, Whitman 57 and Wyoming 0.
Also finishing in MSU’s top three were Cory Harris, 17th, 1:19.21, and Don Brockett, 26th, 1:23.30.
Kyle Taylor, Andre Hokholt and Alex van Roon did not finish either their first or second runs.
Denver’s John Buchar won his second straight individual title in 1:13.72. He captured the giant slalom event on Saturday.
The Bobcat women were led by freshman Ali Leighton, who finished 18th overall with a two-run total of 1:29.78.
She was followed by Alyssa Cartmill, 23rd, 1:31.69, Carmel McElroy, 24th, 1:31.78, Gilliam Hearn, 29th, 1:33.85, Victoria Christensen, 30th, 1:35.24, Chichi Williams, 32nd, 1:35.90, and Hannah Victory, 33rd, 1:36.01.
Sahsa Dingle, Amy Lattimer and Sonja Jennings were all disqualified on the first run.
Colorado’s Lucie Zikova won the women’s slalom title in 1:23.48.
Montana State will compete at the University of Utah Invitational, next weekend.
