Bobcat Skiers in Seventh on Season-Opening Day

Denver opened the giant slalom event with 152 points, followed by Colorado 132, New Mexico 128, Utah 128, Nevada 106, Alaska-Anchorage 104, MSU 80, Western State 57, Whitman 22, and Wyoming 0.
The Bobcats women had a solid outing as two freshmen and a sophomore paced MSU.
Victoria Christensen was Montana State’s top finisher, placing 10th overall with a clocking of 1:57.74.
Sophomore Carmel McElroy finished 21st in 1:58.83, while freshman Hannah Victory was 22nd in 1:59.06.
Also placing for MSU were Chichi Williams, 26th, 1:59.52, Alyssa Cartmill, 34th, 2:02.95, Gillian Hearn, 37th, 2:04.00, Sasha Dingle, 39th, 2:04.43, and Amy Lattimer, 51st, 2:12.91.
Jenny Tank of Denver captured the individual title in 1:53.46.
The Montana State men were paced by Kyle Taylor, who finished 24th in 1:55.94. Also scoring for the Bobcats were Don Brockett (28th, 1:56.70) and Toby LaMar (30th, 1:57.21).
MSU also received contributions from Andre Hokholt, 32nd, 1:57.40, Cory Harris, 33rd, 1:57.82, and Alex van Roon, 40th, 2:02.94.
Denver’s John Buchar won the men’s crown in a time of 1:52.51.
The invitational will resume on Sunday with the slalom events.
