Rudy qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships with her vault of 13-9.25 at Friday’s MSU Open. She is the defending national indoor champion in the event. The honor gives Rudy a Big Sky Conference record for Athlete of the Week honors with 16 in her collegiate career to date. Rudy’s mark puts her at the top of the conference ratings in women’s pole vault and ties for first in NCAA Division I with Arizona State’s April Kabishta.
Johnson, a senior from Livingston, received his first Athlete of the Week honor for his triple crown performance in Friday’s meet winning the 55, 200, and 400. Johnson broke a school record in the 400 in the process. Johnson’s 55 mark of 6.39 ranks him second currently in the BSC while his 200 (21.77) and 400 (47.56) marks are the best in the conference this season.
Both Johnson and Rudy will be in action Friday at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse as the Bobcats face the Idaho State Bengals in a dual invitational meet that starts at 4:30 p.m.
