Montana State Finishes Seventh at Colorado Invite

The invitational, which started Jan. 5 with the alpine races, officially ended on Sunday with the Nordic classical races.
The Bobcat men’s contingent had a strong outing as MSU had two racers in the top 15.
Junior Anders Folleraas placed eighth overall, covering the 15-kilometer course in 41:21.3., while Bernhard Roenning finished 13th in 41:49.1.
Also scoring for MSU was freshman Ryan Scott, who placed 25th overall in 43:32.2.
Nathan Park, who had a top ten finish in the freestyle event, placed 28th in a clocking of 44:35.7.
Utah’s Snorri Einarsson won the men’s individual title in 39:53.6.
Junior Claire Rennie paced the Bobcat women, finishing 14th overall, covering the 10-kilometer course in 33:39.4.
She was followed by Kaelin Kiesel, 17th, 34:13.7; Karoline Teien, 21st, 34:51.5; Melina Park, 28th, 36:03.0; and Fraiser Opel, 31st, 37:42.0.
Maria Grevsgaard, who won the freestyle crown, claimed her second straight title with a clocking of 30:32.9 in classical.
As a team, CU won its own meet with 549 points. The Buffs were followed by Utah 522, Denver 515, New Mexico 464, Nevada 429, Alaska-Anchorage 416, MSU 401, Western State 180, Whitman 166, and Wyoming 41.
The CU Invitational marked the first time seven schools have eclipsed the 400-point mark since the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) adopted the current scoring format in 2000.
