MSU Student-Athletes Spread Cheer in the Kitchen

Senior men’s players Mecklen Davis, Casey Durham, Carlos Taylor, and Adrian Zamora teamed up with women’s players Sarah Strand and Erica Perry to make meals for the Gallatin Valley Food Bank over the holiday break. The six volunteered to help Prefix Dinner Studio in Bozeman put together meals for families in need in the Bozeman area.
“It was fun to watch the guys. They were really into the mixing and mincing,” said Shawn Direden, assistant men’s basketball coach. “Prefix Dinner Studio provided the ingredients and directions and the group put everything together. Some of the ingredients the guys had never seen so it was a learning experience for them too.”
Freshman Sarah Strand of Spokane, Washington was grateful for the opportunity to volunteer during a break from school.
“Most of the opportunities to volunteer are doing school and I don't have a lot of extra time, so I was glad to get to do something during break. I enjoyed working with Mecklen (Davis) making meatloaf,” Strand said.
The student-athletes were paired up and each team made four meals for the food bank. Prefix Dinner Studio is a local Bozeman business where patrons can put together meals with prepared ingredients for serving at home.
