Montana State Nordic Squad Posts Impressive Outing at Colorado Invite

Competing in the freestyle event, the Bobcat men placed three skiers in the top 10, while the MSU women had three racers in the top 15.
Combined, the Montana State Nordic team recorded 134 points, followed by Colorado 129, Denver 128, and Utah 128.
Bobcat newcomer Anders Folleraas finished third overall, covering the 10-kilometer course in a time of 27:15.9.
Also placing in the top ten for MSU were Gunnar Kristiansen, 9th, 27:55.1, and Nathan Park, 10th, 27:58.4.
Bernhard Roenning, 22nd, 28:38.8, and Ryan Scott, 37th, 31:39.0, rounded out MSU’s top five.
Denver’s Rene Reisshauer won the men’s title in 26:40.6.
The Montana State women were paced by Claire Rennie, who finished sixth overall, covering the 5-kilometer race in 15:56.6.
Also placing in the top 15 were Kaelin Kiesel, 10th, 16:14.0, and Melina Park, 15th, 16:25.2.
The Bobcats also received strong showings from Fraiser Opel, 27th, 17:35.1, and Karoline Teien, 33rd, 18:41.2.
Maria Grevsgaard of Colorado captured the women’s crown in 14:50.5.
Colorado leads the team standings with 407 points. The Buffs are followed by Denver 387, Utah 370, New Mexico 354, Nevada 341, Alaska-Anchorage 309, Montana State 300, Western State 152, Whitman 111 and Wyoming 22.
The alpine portion of the CU invite was held Jan. 5-6 in Steamboat Springs.
The CU Invitational will finish Sunday with the Nordic classical race.
