Lumberjacks Topple Bobcats

Kyle Landry grabbed game-high honors with 25 points and nine rebounds, leading Northern Arizona to a 78-58 win over Montana State in the Walkup Skydome on Saturday.
Landry took control almost from the beginning, scoring four quick points at the outset and controlling the boards in the middle portion of the half as NAU broke out of a four-minute drought with three straight buckets starting at the 13:42 mark of the first half. Baskets by Zarko Comagic and Cameron Jones bookended a pair of Landry free throws, as NAU took a 12-8 lead it would never surrender.
"I thought physically they handled us," MSU coach Brad Huse said. "Kyle Landry is a good player, and he played very well tonight."
Bobcat guards Carlos Taylor and Casey Durham scraped to keep the Bobcats close, combining for 36 points (Taylor led the Cats with 19). MSU survived another frustrating first half, shooting below 30% for the second straight game, and was within eight when NAU turned a missed shot inside into a second-chance three-pointer by Nate Geiser as the first half ended to give the Lumberjacks an 11-point halftime cushion.
The second half opened with Durham scoring eight of MSU's first 10 points to keep the Bobcats within 10 leading up to the 12-minute media time out. After that, NAU's balance took over, and the Lumberjacks coasted to the win. NAU extended the lead from 13 to 20 with four of its starters still in the game to the very end.
Huse credited Durham for bouncing back from a tough night at Sacramento State on Thursday. "Casey played so hard tonight," Huse said, "he played so much more aggressively. He looked like Casey tonight."
Junior guard Josh Wilson, on his way to the top reaches of the Big Sky career assists list, registered 16 points and eight assists on Saturday, while Comagic finished with 11. Taylor and Durham were the only Bobcats to score in double figures. Durham also finished with three assists.
The win raises NAU's record to 12-6 overall, and with a 4-1 league mark the Lumberjacks own the most wins in the Big Sky. MSU stands 9-7 overall, 1-2 in the league, and the Bobcats host defending Big Sky champion and preseason conference favorite Weber State on Thursday.
