Bobcat Skiers Sixth at Utah Invite

With four events completed, Utah leads its own invite accumulating 297 points. The Utes are followed by Denver 282, Colorado 264, Alaska-Anchorage 235, Nevada 196, MSU 193, New Mexico 171, Whitman 89, Western State 83 and Wyoming 30.
The MSU’s women’s team finished fourth overall with 55 points in the classic race.
Sophomore Claire Rennie paced the Bobcats, finishing ninth overall covering the 15-k course in 57:24.9.
Rennie was followed by Kaelin Kiesel, 15th, 59:07.5; Karoline Teien, 24th, 1:001.24; Melina Park, 26th, 1:01.52; Frasier Opel, 29th, 1:03.01; and Meredith Gilliland, 32nd, 1:05.20.
Maria Grevsgaard of Colorado won the individual crown in 51:49.8.
The MSU men’s Nordic squad was paced by three newcomers and finished fifth in the men’s classic event.
The Bobcats were led by Anders Folleraas, who placed 12th with a time of 1:03.59.
Also contributing in the 20-k race for MSU were Bernhard Roenning, 14th, 1:04.21; Gunnar Kristiansen, 24th, 1:07.22; Nathan Park, 32nd, 1:09.03; Tyler Wright, 33rd, 1:09.07; Sam Viavant, 34th, 1:09.21; and Ryan Scott, 37th, 1:10.36.
Denver’s Rene Reisshauer won the men’s title in 1:01.28.
In the women’s slalom race, Montana State was paced by Sasha Dingle, who finished 15th with a two-run total of 1:40.43.
She was followed by Alyssa Cartmill, 18th, 1:41.90; Chichi Williams, 20th, 1:42.59; Sonja Jennings, 23rd, 1:44.10; Ali Leighton, 31st, 1:52.07; and Hannah Victory, 37th, 2:01.59.
CU’s Lucie Zikova won the women’s crown in 1:33.35.
Times were not available for the men’s slalom race; however, MSU’s finishers included Andre Hokholt, 13th, Don Brockett, 21st, Cory Harris, 24th, Kyle Taylor, 26th, Alex van Roon, 33rd, and Toby LaMar, 34th.
The Utah Invitational will conclude Saturday with the Nordic freestyle and alpine giant slalom races.
