Tonight’s Game
After a clean sweep by Big Sky home teams Thursday, including Sacramento State’s last-second win over the Bobcats, Montana State enters one of the league’s most inhospitable sites on Saturday, facing Northern Arizona in the Walkup Skydome. After playing from behind for most of the night on Thursday, MSU let one slip away by missing a pair of free throws with 17 seconds to play that would have extended its lead from one to three points, then watching Justin Williams drain a 15-foot baseline jumper with 4.6 seconds left to vault the Hornets to a 78-77 win. Northern Arizona overcame a large lead maintained by Montana for most of the night en route to a Thursday night win over the Grizzlies in Flagstaff. NAU enters the contest 3-1 in Big Sky play, while the Bobcats are 1-1.

Montana State clings to a 40-38 lead in the all-time series against Northern Arizona, but it’s been all Lumberjacks lately. NAU has won five straight against the Bobcats, and five straight against MSU in the Skydome. Montana State’s last win in Flagstaff was a 59-48 contest during MSU’s championship run in 2002. NAU owns a 25-13 edge in the series in Flagstaff.

Bobcat coach Brad Huse has used the same starting lineup in 10 straight games… Casey Durham has started 65 consecutive contests… Carlos Taylor became the first Bobcat player in four decades to post back-to-back games of at least 34 points by hitting that total in MSU’s last two contests.

Montana State’s 38.3% shooting was its second-lowest mark of the season (37.5% at UCSB)… MSU’s -4 rebounding margin was its worst of the season… the team’s 14 turnovers was its most since turning it over 16 times at Evergreen State.
