Bobcat Harriers Have Tough Go in South Bend

The Bobcat men’s team finished 18th overall, while the MSU women placed 23rd.
“We found it a difficult competition,” said MSU head coach Dale Kennedy. “We may have been over our heads in one sense, and maybe not in another. We looked like we were running tired.
“We’ll grow from this experience,” Kennedy said. “We’ll turn this experience into a positive and learn something for the future.”
Sophomore Nick Atwood paced the MSU men, finishing 62nd overall, covering the 5-mile course in 25:02. He was followed by Graydon Curry, 76th, 25:12; Matt Adams, 99th, 25:34; Tyler Noland, 145th, 26:26; Chad Nauman, 154th, 26:38; Kelvin Daratha, 155th, 26:39; Carl Nystuen, 159th, 26:48; and Chris Baldus, 161st, 26:58.
Notre Dame won the men’s title with 92 points, while Liberty’s Joshua McDougal won individual honors, covering the course in 23:37.
The Bobcat women were led by Elisabeth Driscoll, who finished 89th overall, posting a 5000-meter clocking of 18:16. She was followed by Kayla Larson, 117th, 18:44; Carrie Gottschalk, 120th, 18:46; Anna Glowacki, 140th, 19:18; Kala Jacquet, 143rd, 19:21; Jayme Larson, 147th, 19:29; Morgan Dunley, 154th, 19:43; and Katie Gilboy, 157th, 19:48.
Rice won the women’s team title with 118 points, and Susan Kuijken of Florida State captured individual medalist honors with a clocking of 16:32.
