Golf Finishes 8th in Spokane

MSU shot the third lowest team round of the day Tuesday, recording a 304, just four strokes behind overall winner Eastern Washington.
Senior Stephanie Simmons, who was paired on the final day with her younger sister from the University of Montana, led the Bobcats in the event with a 232, including a career low 74 on the final round of play. Three of six Bobcats shot a 74 on the final round—Simmons, senior Kate Steffanich, and junior Shannon Donegan.
“This is huge for us,” head coach Brittany Basye said. “For three of our players to shoot only two-over par on the last day shows me that they are getting the confidence to play up to their potential. I’m very encouraged by our team’s performance.”
The ‘Cats one-day performance of 304 beats their 2006-07 season best of 307 at the Colorado State Invite. MSU travels to Colorado State next week for the Heather Farr Memorial Oct. 1-2.
