MSU Women's Tennis Team Tames Laramie

The Bobcats dominated play as true-freshman Stephanie Jasper won the Gold Singles (top bracket) with a 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 win over Tabatha Knop of Northern Colorado.
MSU’s Laura Villegas won the Brown Singles bracket with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over UNC’s Manuela Santos.
The Bobcats topped its tournament play as Ali Griffin won the White Singles bracket with a straight set 6-2, 6-3 win over Wyoming’s Michelle Brown.
In doubles action, Villegas and Griffin were defeated in the championship match of the Gold bracket, while Jasper and Nuria Hernandez combined to win the back-draw.
MSU’s sister act of Remy and Lisa Clark finished fourth in the Brown bracket.
“We had a tremendous opening weekend,” said Bobcat women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “The girls played very well and we’re excited about the future and potential of this team.”
