Atwood, Driscoll Pace Bobcat Harriers

The Bobcat men placed fourth overall, while the Montana State women were seventh.
In the men’s five-mile race, the Bobcats were paced by Nick Atwood, who finished seventh in a time of 24:58. He was followed by Matt Adams, tenth, 25:07; Graydon Curry, 11th, 25:14; Tyler Noland, 39th, 26:24; Kelvin Daratha, 46th, 26:37; Chad Nauman, 47th, 26:37; Carl Nystuen, 48th, 26:38; Chris Baldus, 52nd, 26:43; and Dan Jackson, 53rd, 26:43.
“Our top three guys really did a nice job and were right where we expected them to be,” said MSU head coach Dale Kennedy. “The other part of the group, including five freshmen, got a good taste of collegiate racing and received a good education in handling the longer distance.
“I would expect to see a lot of improvement in our next race,” Kennedy said.
Mark Korir of Wyoming won the men’s individual title in 24:14.
Weber State captured the men’s team title with 29 points. The Wildcats were followed by Montana 76, Utah State 79, MSU 107, Wyoming 107, Utah Valley 143, Idaho State 171, Big Sky Distance Project 257, Westminster 257, and Carroll College 282.
The Bobcat women were paced by three-time All-Big Sky performer Elisabeth Driscoll, who placed 16th overall in 17:44. She was followed by Kayla Larson, 32nd, 18:11; Carrie Gottschalk, 35th, 18:16; Anna Glowacki, 45th, 18:36; Jayme Larson, 47th, 18:37; Katie Gilboy, 48th, 18:42; Morgan Dunley, 49th, 18:48; and Kala Jacquet, 53rd, 19:06.
“Like the men, our top three finishers were the upperclassmen,” Kennedy said. “It was a good first meet and we have a good solid base for the rest of the season.
“Starting with Anna and Jayme, we had a nice pack, but we need to get them within 30-seconds of Elisabeth,” Kennedy said. “We’ll grow from the experience and continue to get better.”
Weber State’s Sariah Long won the women’s individual crown with a time of 16:38.
Utah State captured the women’s team title with 59 points. The Aggies were followed by Montana 73, Weber State 78, Utah 83, Utah Valley 112, Wyoming 124, MSU 163, Idaho State 245, MSU-Billings 284, Carroll College 309, Great Falls 314, Westminster 352, and Rocky Mountain College 390.
