Junior receiver DeAndre Green has not yet been cleared academically to compete for the Bobcats this year. He did not travel with the team to Texas A&M, and his status will be re-evaluated by the NCAA some time prior to MSU's second game, the home opener against Dixie State on September 15.

Former MSU receiver Eric Hopkins is among the former Bobcats in attendance on Saturday. Hopkins, originally from Seagovill, Tex., remains fourth in school history with 1,840 career receiving yards.

Former Bobcat men's basketball coach and assistant athletic director Stu Starner is currently a fund-raiser for Texas A&M's 12th Man Foundation.

D.V. Graves provides the one significant historical link between MSU and Aggie football. Graves was an assistant football coach at A&M in 1917 and 1919, and was the program's head coach in 1918 when D.X. Bible served in World War I. He moved to Montana State in 1920, and was the Bobcats head football and basketball coach for two seasons. The former Missouri All-Missouri Valley Conference tackle (1908) was also head coach at Alabama from 1911-14, and was A&M's head basketball coach from 1915-19.

A pair of true freshman will be exposed to big-time college football in their debuts Saturday. Safety Jordan Craney and kicker Michael Sweeney are both slated to compete. Several other true freshman are on the trip on an emergency-only basis.

Jeff Lasky becomes MSU's fourth play-by-play man in the last 30 years on Saturday when he tackes the mic from Kris Atteberry, now with the Minnesota Twins.
