Former Bobcat Connolly to Play Overseas

The Ennis native will play professional basketball in Finland in September. Connolly will play for Pussikukat, a Division I team located in Vantaa, just outside of Helsinki.
Pussikukat posted a 17-11 overall mark last season and advanced to the semifinals of the Finnish Cup.
Playing on her squad in Finland is Katherine Sunwall, who recently completed her career at UM-Western.
“I’m not ready to close the book on my basketball career,” Connolly said. “Playing professional ball overseas will be a great opportunity to improve my game, and will allow me to travel, as well.”
Connolly, who finished her career at MSU last winter, averaged 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. The 6-3 center also ended her career second on the all-time Bobcat blocks chart with 92 swats. Connolly was a four-time Big Sky Conference All-Academic selection.
“We’re excited for Whitney,” said Bobcat head coach Tricia Binford. “Playing overseas is a tremendous experience. She has all the skills to be successful.”
Connolly’s contract will run from Sept. 2 to April 5.
