Academic Accolades Continue for MSU Athletes

Montana State women’s track and field posted 24 Big Sky All-Academic performances spring semester to lead all conference schools in sport team performances. In total, 46 MSU athletes gained all-conference academic honors in men’s and women’s tennis, women’s golf and men’s and women’s track and field. To be eligible for all-conference honors, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.2 grade point average, participate in half the team’s competitions and have completed at least one academic term at the institution. MSU’s 46 all-conference honors placed second behind Eastern Washington (53) and ahead of University of Montana (38).
Bobcat athletes also received accolades for their spring semester grades, placing 24 student-athletes on the President’s List and 67 student-athletes on the Dean’s List. President's List honorees have earned a perfect 4.0 GPA and Dean’s List honorees post a 3.50-3.99 GPA. Men’s and women’s track and field boasted five President's List honorees each to lead the individual teams.
In addition, another 82 student-athletes earned a GPA over 3.0. This marks the twelfth consecutive semester that MSU teams combined to post a team GPA above 3.0.
“This is a great testament to the level of commitment our student-athletes have to their teams, to MSU, and to the community,” athletic director Peter Fields said. “I am honored to be associated with such a great group of young people. Their dedication to excellence is what MSU athletics is all about.”
Montana State athletic teams carried an average team GPA of 3.21 spring semester and over 50 percent of the student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA.
