Rudy Earns All-America Honors Again

Ellie Rudy earned All-America honors in the third straight season Friday, finishing fourth in the pole vault at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Rudy vaulted 13-7.25, but missed on her first two jumps at the first two heights, knocking her from third to fifth. "I can't complain about getting All-America," said the junior from Woodland Park, Colo., "but I felt like I let something go. I know I can jump higher. I was just tired today, feeling kind of blah, but I'm happy for the girls that won. They did a good job. And it's great being All-America again."
Bobcat jumps coach Tom Eitel said Rudy put herself in a slight hole early on. "She's never missed her opening height, and she did that tonight," he said. "That one miss moved her from tied for third to fourth. But she did well. Her goal is always to be in the top three, and she was right there. She had a chance to win, even at the end."
Rudy, the 2007 NCAA Indoor National Champion in the pole vault, repeated All-America honors from the 2006 outdoor championships. She also owns five Big Sky Championships, and is the reigning Regional Women's Field Event Athlete of the Year indoors and outdoors.
In two weeks, Rudy jumps at the US Championships, cintinuing to compete for a spot on the US National Team.
