Montana State’s Albrecht Named Big Sky Coach of the Year

Albrecht, who completed her seventh season at MSU, led the Bobcats to an 11-12 overall mark and a 5-2 Big Sky Conference slate. Montana State advanced to the semifinals of the 2007 Big Sky Championships, before bowing out to Northern Arizona.
“This is a great honor for our program,” Albrecht said. “I couldn’t have achieved this without the effort of the team, the MSU Athletics Department and the Bozeman tennis community.”
MSU finished the 2007 campaign winning eight of its last ten matches.
“We faced some adversity early in the season, and with the help of a lot of different individuals we got on track in the final two months of the year,” Albrecht said. “We have a young team, and return everyone next season. Our future looks very bright.”
Albrecht coached junior Nuria Hernandez to her third straight Big Sky Conference First-Team honor, this spring, while also leading junior Nicole Luetolf and freshman Lara Villegas to second-team accolades, as well.
The Bobcats have also appeared in every Big Sky Conference tournament since the Big Sky’s inception of women’s athletics in 1988.
A native of Great Falls, Albrecht was a top collegiate player for the University of Utah from 1980-84. She guided the Utes to the 1982 Western Athletic Conference title.
