MSU’s Bowden Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

The native of Cumberland, Maine recorded a 3.86 grade-point average in exercise science, while also making her third straight appearance at the NCAA Championships.
Bowden was one of the top Nordic racers in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Association and the NCAA Western Region. She posted a season best second place showing at the University of Utah Invitational. In all, she posted six top 10 finishes this winter. Bowden placed 24th at the NCAA championships in classic and 28th overall in freestyle.
Also named to the 10-member District VII squad were Annette Aksdal, Denver, Sandra Blake, SE Missouri, Stephanie Carter, Nebraska, Jordan Hawkins, Missouri State, Tamara Lehnertz, Wyoming, Imke Reimers, Nebraska, Aimee Stinson, Wyoming, Krista Swanson Montana, and Chelsey Walden, Iowa State.
Bowden’s name will now be placed on the national ballot.
The award, which is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America, honors outstanding student-athletes in the sports of women's bowling, women's crew, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo and men's wrestling.
