Hoopin' it up in the Bahamas, Day IV

Greetings from Nassau, this is Jenny Heringer reporting for MSU women’s basketball.
The fourth day began with breakfast in the morning at our hotel’s buffet. We then rushed out to get some sun because today wasn’t expected to be nice. The morale was boosted intensely. We were so excited about the sun rays that it slipped people’s minds to put enough sunscreen on, but I am not naming names (Erin, Krislyn and Coach Saneholtz).
Some teammates decided to partake in a mean game of beach volleyball, which is right by the pool. From what I was told people’s competitive nature came into play. I was taking a leisurely float in the pool and could hear celebratory cheers after every point.
I, along with some of my teammates, decided we wanted to get into the ocean, so we rented sea kayaks and paddle boats, and motored around the ocean front. EVERYONE is looking forward to riding on the banana boat tomorrow.
In the afternoon, we made another trip over the bridge to Paradise Island and the Atlantis Resort. We were let loose to venture and explore his huge hotel.
Some people went and admired the aquarium, which was filled with hundreds and hundreds of fish. Among the main attractions was a huge stingray (the size of a small car, I kid you not!) and a large shark.
Some of us decided to venture into the marina that is next to the hotel, where we found ourselves in awe of the yachts. There was one yacht in particular that we were told was worth $30-50 million.
It was time again to get back on the bus to return to our hotel to get ready for our game. We must of hit rush hour traffic in Nassau because it took forever to get back. We got back, ran and got in our uniforms. Then we ran to the trainer Heather’s room to get taped (and stock up on snacks) and we were on our way to the gym.
Upon our arrival to the game we had to wait for the volleyball teams to get off. But we did start the game on time tonight and they did have enough players to start the game. For our second game, we anticipated playing a Bahamian club team, but after glancing across the court during warm-ups we soon realized that the players looked strikingly similar to the ones we played yesterday.
The game was very physical. But on a high note, we did get our first charge call (good work Nubia!), which we were debating even existed in Bahamian rules.
In the end, we came out with the victory. We defeated the Bahamian National Team 68-48. We are looking forward to another fun day in the sun and another competitive game tomorrow night.
