Coming Events:
Apr. 14: MSU Invitational
Track and field hosts the first of two home meets this spring on Saturday at the MSU Track and Field Complex. The ‘Cats will take on University of Mary and Montana with field events beginning at 11:00 a.m. and track events beginning at noon. Admission is free and concessions will be available.
Last Week:
Montana State enjoyed a stellar day in the throwing events, qualifying four new athletes for the NCAA Regional Track and Field Championships Saturday at the Weber State Invitational over the weekend. Tanner Rauk won the shot put with a regional qualifying 56-1.25, and MSU men grabbed the top four spots in the javelin, with the top three passing the regional standard. Taylor Hensen (1st, 209-6), Dustin Degen (2nd, 206-9), and Dan van Swearingen (3rd, 203-8) each qualified for the regional meet. Nick Lam finished fourth with a 199-9. Kylee Zent led the women throwers, winning the shot put and finishing second in the discus. Kim Berg finished second in the javelin, while Zent, Kris Schaffer and Alli Jones finished 1-2-4 in the shot put. Ellie Rudy won the pole vault with a mark of 13-5.25.

Montana State women’s tennis team saw its four-match win streak come to a halt with a 4-3 loss to Northern Arizona, Friday afternoon in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. The victory gives the Lumberjacks sole possession of second place in the Big Sky Conference, while the Bobcats drop one game back in third. Saturday, was a different story with the ‘Cats sweeping both matches at home 7-0. MSU opened the day with a win over Big Sky rival Weber State. The Bobcats won the doubles point, before capturing all six singles matches. The win over WSU was highlighted by freshman Laura Villegas’ 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles over Greyce Farias. The Bobcats finished weekend play with a 7-0 win over MSU-Billings. Montana State won each match in straight sets, en route to winning its sixth match in its last seven outings.

The Montana State men host a pair of conference matches at the Bobcat Anderson Tennis Center Saturday and Sunday. The ‘Cats finish out the conference season with two weekends of home matches before the conference tournament, April 27-28.

Apr. 6: lost at Loyola-Marymount, 3-4
Apr. 7: at #21 Boise State, 0-7
The Bobcat men’s team dropped a pair of matches at Boise State over the weekend. Loyola-Marymount handed MSU a 4-3 setback on Friday. Junior Kyle McDonald led MSU against LMU with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. MSU dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 21 Boise State on Saturday.

Montana State golfers begin the first of two days of golf Monday with a 36-hole round at the Cowgirl Classic hosted by the University of Wyoming. Shotgun start is at 9:30 a.m. Full daily results will be available at www.msubobcats.com.
